Dr. Michelle R. Belle, President

President's Welcome Message

As I begin my second term as President of the Farmville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., I am filled with profound gratitude for the privilege of serving this esteemed chapter. It has been an honor to lead alongside dedicated Sorors who embody the spirit of our beloved organization. While we celebrate the meaningful progress of this past biennium, I am keenly aware that there is still much work to be done and I am energized for the journey ahead.

Our Vision: The Farmville Alumnae Chapter aims to be a beacon of sisterhood, scholarship, and service in our six service areas. We envision a future where our chapter’s impact is felt in every corner of: Amelia, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Nottoway, and Prince Edward Counties empowering women, uplifting families, and fostering positive change.

Our Mission: To continue the legacy of our illustrious founders by implementing programs that address the most pressing needs of our communities. We are committed to the growth of the Farmville Alumnae Chapter through:

  • Sincere Sisterhood
  • Serving with Purpose
  • Securing our Legacy

Celebrating Our Accomplishments: The 2024–2026 biennium was marked by milestones that reflect the strength, commitment, and excellence of our membership.

Membership Intake: We are especially proud to have welcomed the Ascendant Accord XX, the largest line in Farmville Alumnae Chapter history. This historic intake experience is a testament to our chapter’s growing presence and the magnetic draw of Delta Sigma Theta in our communities.

Scholarship Expansion: We successfully increased the number of scholarships awarded to graduating seniors across our service areas. These investments in our young scholars represent our commitment to educational development and to the futures of the next generation of leaders.

Committee Excellence: Our committees have continued to get the work done, showing up, pressing forward, and delivering meaningful programming across all five programmatic thrust areas. Their dedication is the backbone of our chapter’s success.

Looking Ahead: Delta Sigma Theta’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust:

While we celebrate our progress, we acknowledge that the work is far from finished. In the 2026–2028 biennium, we will continue to align our efforts with the Five-Point Programmatic Thrust, with renewed focus and deepened impact:

  • Economic Development: We will continue to expand financial literacy workshops, entrepreneurship seminars, and job fairs to boost economic opportunities across our service areas.
  • Educational Development: Our chapter will deepen mentorship programs through Delta Academy and Delta Gems, while growing scholarship initiatives, and building on the momentum of this past biennium.
  • International Awareness and Involvement: We will organize cultural exchange events and support global humanitarian efforts to broaden our community’s worldview.
  • Physical and Mental Health: Health fairs, wellness workshops, and mental health awareness campaigns will remain at the forefront of our health initiatives.
  • Political Awareness and Involvement: Voter registration drives, civic engagement seminars, and advocacy training will continue to empower our community to be active citizens.

Charge for the Biennium: As we embark on this next chapter, I charge each member of the Farmville Alumnae Chapter to:

  • Embrace our sisterhood with renewed vigor and commitment
  • Actively participate in our programming and events
  • Mentor a younger Soror or potential member
  • Contribute innovative ideas to enhance our chapter’s impact
  • Represent Delta Sigma Theta with grace, dignity, and purpose in all endeavors

Together, we will elevate our chapter to even greater heights building upon our history, honoring our accomplishments, and becoming even greater in this next biennium. Let us move forward with passion, purpose, and the unwavering commitment to transform lives through service.

With sisterly love and dedication,

Dr. Michelle R. Belle
